line of eco-couture purses from the Better World for Children, a non-profit organization
located in Sarasota, Florida. I plan to increase the number of products
in the future to possibly include lotions and beauty products, clothing and other
wonderful items.
That's me in the picture to the right at a recent fundraiser for
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer wearing one of my Lagnaippe
lariat-style necklaces. The Creole-derived word means "a little
something extra" or "special" such as the extra treat in a baker's
dozen. What makes this line special is that each necklace and
earring design is unique, created with semi-precious stones,
freshwater pearls and natural elements following a particular
color scheme.
For instance, the Black Dahlia line is designed with black onyx, obsidian, faceted quartz, fresh
water pearls and mother of pearl plus an array of other beads in a black/white/clear format, but
no two will ever be the same. That means your Black Dahlia will be unique -- it won't look exactly
like the picture nor will it look like anyone else's either. It will just be designed with a combination
of the beads described in the format shown.
The design works with many different necklines from turtlenecks to scoops. They look great
peeking out of a jacket or sweater too. Each of the lariat-style necklaces feature a front hook or
lobster claw closure that make putting it on and taking it off a breeze. The buyer has the option
of silver or gold accents. In keeping with the asymmetric design of the Lagnaippe, please note that
the earrings are not identical either. The earwires and back-chain are sterling silver or 14kt gold
filled and the beads are strung on a plastic coated, 49-strand wire for maximum strength but
great flexibility. Each necklace and earring set sells for $85 with $5 going toward Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer to find a cure in our lifetime.

Hands of Hope Purses
Better World for Children, a community-based non-profit organization founded
in Sartasota, Florida by philanthropist Mark Schlanger, supports, promotes
and participates in several international programs that are established to help
Improve the lives of children living under the poverty level.
The Hands of Hope project teaches mothers self-sufficiency skills that enable
them to rise out of poverty and thrive in society. The initiative is part of an
eco-couture project where mothers from Brazil have created a line of unique
handcrafted purses and belts made from soda can snap tops and bottoms.
Hearts Desire is proud to support this organization through placement of
these wonderful pursesand belts in our online store. These items are not
mass produced. Currently Hearts Desire has only two or three of each style.
